OUR NEW MODEL WILL OFFER EXTENDED HOURS OF SERVICE

Currently at Lunenburg Family Health our medical team consists of four family doctors, working together with a family practice nurse and a nurse practioner, all supported by an electronic patient record. The practice will now be able to offer extended hours of service to the community, as well as organized group education sessions, collaboration with key program areas such as home care and mental health. WHAT IS A NURSE PRACTIONER?

Our nurse practioner will function to her full professional scope. She will be responsible for the diagnosis of patients, prevention/promotion activities, treatment of illness and injury, prescribing and dispensing of medications, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, providing patient teaching and counceling about health issues, ordering lab tests, providing routine medical services generally provided by a physician and providing other advanced nursing tasks.
